It's been a while since I posted, but we are in fact alive!
Things got crazy busy toward the end of the writing project, then a trip to the beach and a family emergency. After all of that we finally moved ALL of our belongings into our house (mostly in the garage) and are settling in right as school starts.
Let me say this: I LOVE MY NEW JOB!!
I'm still teaching, it's still maddening at times, but I love it. The faculty is amazing...scary how easy it has been to fit right in among people I thought were larger than life. I have also started the Masters in Curriculum and Instruction at Appalachian State, and it's going to be a TON of work. But, the projects are exciting and really put me in a good position to lead in my school. This is exciting stuff we're talking about here!
At the house, we have finished painting the office so all we really lack is caulk in that room before we can start doing the furniture thing in there. I'm thinking we may Christmas gift ourselves a new desktop computer...
That leaves the guest bedroom to paint, caulk and furnish as well as ceramic paint caulk and put ceramic tile on the floor of the guest bath. Sounds like a lot, I know. But we have made SO MUCH progress in the other rooms that it really feels like we are rounding out the renovations to the physical structure. This means it's (maybe almost?) time for open house...eventually.
Our latest crisis at home is minor I suppose: my computer is....well it's doing something it is not supposed to, and while I'm married to a guy who works in Information Technology...that doesn't do all that much for my poor laptop with a software issue. So he's working on that and I'm on a loaner...meaning I won't be able to do much with photos because they are all housed on the hard drive of my laptop. We will be purchasing an external hard drive to save all of the photos and files on in case the worst happens to it.
All in all, things are going well and while we're both exhausted most nights we're very happy. We've been fortunate enough to travel to Smith Mountain Lake recently to spend time with friends as well as spend this last weekend together just being a couple. I cannot start explaining here how important it is to get time with Johnathan since it's really scarce between school and work. He is so good to me and I am blessed beyond anything I would ever deserve to have him in my life, especially as my husband.
Enough with the sap. I'm sleepy. =0)
